App like Rappi

Build an app like Rappi: one super app, multiple categories.

An app like Rappi doesn't sell just one type of product — it combines food, groceries, pharmacy, alcohol and errands in a single platform with independent catalogs per merchant. We design and build that multi-category architecture from scratch, with courier dispatch and a panel for affiliated merchants.

The gap between a delivery app and a super app

Cloning just the "order food" flow is not building an app like Rappi. The real complexity is supporting multiple business categories at once — restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores — each with its own catalog, inventory, hours and commission rules, inside one customer experience and one courier dispatch engine.

  • Customer app with category navigation (food, groceries, pharmacy, errands)
  • Merchant panel with its own catalog, inventory and hours per vertical
  • Shared courier app across categories with route optimization
  • Commission engine configurable by merchant type and category
02

Per-merchant catalog and inventory

Every affiliated merchant needs to manage its own catalog, pricing, availability and hours without depending on your team. We build the self-service merchant panel: product management, real-time stock control, promotions and sales reports, integrable with the merchant's POS when needed.

03

Multi-category courier dispatch

Unlike a single-vertical app, the dispatch engine of a Rappi-like super app has to decide which courier takes a grocery order, which one takes a pharmacy order, and how to prioritize when multiple orders are active in the same zone. We design that engine with per-category assignment rules, estimated prep time and coverage zones.

04

Errands and custom requests

Beyond the structured catalog, we include the "errand" flow — the customer describes what they need and a courier buys it in-store, something most generic delivery apps don't solve well. This and the rest of the system are part of our on-demand app development service, with a nearshore team in Colombia.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a multi-category app like Rappi cost?

An MVP focused on one or two categories (say, food + groceries) starts from US$8,000-12,000. A multi-merchant platform with several verticals, configurable commissions and merchant panels usually falls between US$20,000 and US$40,000.

Can we launch with food delivery only and add categories later?

Yes, that's the approach we recommend. We design the architecture to support additional categories from day one, but the first release usually focuses on a single vertical to validate the operation.

Does it include a self-service panel for affiliated merchants?

Yes. Each merchant manages its own catalog, inventory, hours and promotions without depending on your internal team.
